Fabio da Silva started his Brazilian national team career at the Under-17 level and he went on to captain the team to the 2007 FIFA u-17 World Cup tournament in South Korea. Fabio da Silva was thehighest scorer at the tournament in South Korea for the Brazilian team with three goals.
The Brazilians had already qualified at the end of their second group game and the loss had no effect on their knockout stage qualification from Group B. Though, they could have had a more favourable round of 16 fixture if they drew with or beat England to take top spot.
In the round of 16, Brazil faced Ghana and that was their last game at the tournament. Isaac Donkor scored the only goal of the game in the second half to eliminate the Brazilians from the tournament.
Fabio da Silva scored ten goals in 13 appearances for the Brazil Under-17 team. He went on to make two caps for the senior team. His first senior team appearance came against Costa Rica on October 7, 2011 before he made his second team appearance against Mexico on October 11, 2011.
